Mercedes is a Henry County native and a graduate of Henry County High School. Mercedes attended Western Carolina University and received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2020. Mercedes attended Vermont Law School and received her Juris Doctor in May 2023.
While in law school, Mercedes was a Student Ambassador, a Teaching Assistant for several classes, and held leadership positions for the Black Law Student Association. Mercedes also worked as a Student Attorney for the South Royalton Legal Clinic with a focus on the Veterans Legal Assistance Project. While working at the Clinic, Mercedes was able to assist Veterans in their legal needs while gaining experience in veterans law, estate planning, bankruptcy, and a wide range of civil matters. While in law school, Mercedes was also able to work with Vermont Small Business Development Center where she provided legal education to small business and organizations and taught a CLE to the Vermont Bar regarding small businesses’ legal needs in Vermont. Mercedes then worked as a contract specialist for a fortune 500 corporation where she drafted and prepared telecommunication and real estate contracts. Ultimately, Mercedes ended her law school career with a judicial clerkship at the Henry County Superior Court where she assisted the Honorable Judge Pandora Palmer.
Currently, Mercedes’s practice areas encompass civil litigation, personal injury, business matters, probate, and estate planning.
In her free time, Mercedes enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and puppy, Coco. Mercedes loves to travel and attends church at McDonough Christian Church.
