Tim Shepherd represents individuals in various civil litigation involving family law matters such as adoptions, divorce, custody and child support issues, contract disputes, employment issues, personal injury, wrongful death, probate matters, school law, and local government disputes. Mr. Shepherd also represents small to medium-sized business clients in civil litigation involving a wide variety of issues such as contract disputes, commercial problems, construction disputes, and relationships with local government entities as well as business clients in the negotiation and drafting of contracts and other documents, formation of businesses, and advising business clients on day-to-day legal matters.

Tim has practiced law in Griffin, Georgia since 1984. The past nine years he was in practice with his oldest son, Patrick, until Patrick was elected as the Solicitor General of the State Court of Spalding County in 2018. In January, 2019, Tim joined the firm of Smith Welch Webb & White as Of Counsel.

Tim Shepherd grew up in Griffin, Ga before attending the University of Georgia where he received a Political Science degree and Juris Doctorate from Lumpkin School of Law. Mr. Shepherd is married with three sons and enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, hiking, high school and college football and coached youth league baseball for many years (now just a fan).

Tim is married to the former Beth McGhee. They have three sons, Patrick is the Solicitor General of the State Court of Spalding County, Eric is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine and presently serves on the faculty at the University of Georgia, and Alec holds a Master’s Degree from UGA and is employed in the College of Agriculture on the Athens Campus.

Trial Experience

Tim Shepherd has tried hundreds of cases in State Court and before Administrative tribunals. He has also tried matters in Federal courts but has concentrated his trial practice in the State Court system. Tim has focused in trial practice in Spalding County, Pike County, Butts County, Lamar County, Monroe County and Coweta County.

Admissions and Recognitions

Admitted to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Northern District of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and both the Northern and Middle Districts of the United States District. A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Georgia Bar Association, Elbert County Bar Association (Chairman, Law Day Committee), Spalding County Bar Association (Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-President, and President), and Council of School Attorneys.

Community Involvement

  • Tim is involved in his local community. He was heavily involved in coaching youth baseball teams for many years and broadcast high school football and baseball games for nineteen years (from 2000 – 2018) before retiring after the 2018 football season.
  • Tim served as the attorney for the Board of Directors of Spalding County Youth Baseball for many years.
